Kinda Big House Update

As of Oct 3, we are officially out of the apartment, no need to worry about that dump any more! We are finally settling into the new house, we still need to do a lot of unpacking. Because of work and other things, we haven't been able to do much, but that is going to change this weekend. After I pick up my Donald as Darth Mail big fig and Charlotte gets her Sleeping Beauty Blu-Ray, the rest of the weekend is dedicated to unpacking and setting up the house...

Last week we also grilled for the first time... not only the first time in the new house, but the first time we've ever grilled! Of course I had to take some photos, check the rest here!



And for those of you keeping score, those are bison burger and cheese hot dogs! The next night, we grilled brats, chorizo sausage, and keilbasas!






And one last thing to talk about... We had a very bad storm come through earlier tonight... I thought it was cool, but the other two chickens in the house didn't enjoy it! Here are some photos of the weather, for the rest, click here:

House Moving Update

Well, we are not moving as fast as I wanted to get the new house setup... mainly because there have been some set backs that have delayed us.

Various things such as working late, late nights, etc... have kept us from getting more stuff done before now. Heck, last night we got almost nothing done, because the A/C broke! We had to call in an emergency service call around 9:45pm last night, the guy showed up around 11:00, and didn't leave until around 12:30am. Basically, he had to rewire the unit to work, until they could get the necessary part. At least it is all covered under warranty.

But the next two afternoons/nights should be "normal", so we are hoping to get plenty of stuff done! We did get the new entertainment system setup and running.... Oh wait, y'all don't know about that, well let's just say this, not all of us made it over to the new house. The first thing I moved on Saturday morning was our big TV... and guess what! I missed the last few steps on the stairs, fell down them, and destroyed the TV. It's ok though, the nice new Panasonic LCD HDTV and Blu-Ray player have helped me forget about the bruises, road rash over my arms and legs, etc.....

We are planning on heading back to the apartment this Friday night and get everything moved out. After Friday night, the only time we should need to go back is for the clean up!

House Moving Update

Just wanted to give everyone an update on the status of the house move. Well, everyone has been feed and washed, but at least everything has been moved!

The movers really made us look bad! They were able to move all of the heavy stuff in only 2.5 hours.... it took us all day to move the rest of it. We started at 9:00am this morning and just before 9:00pm. But everything has been moved, the furniture is setup, close to it's final position. Mr Cleo helped get everything moved and Mrs Terry took care of the kitched.

Now starts the process of unpacking and setting up the house. Oh, while she hates the back porch, Autumn is loving the house! She also has had no problems going through her cat doors *phew*

I did take some photos, just don't have the internet connectivity to upload them tonight (I will try in a day or so).

Big thanks go out to Mr Cleo and Mrs Terry, we wouldn't have been able to do it without you! And even big thanks go out to Paul!

New House Update - Again

I've posted another round of images from our prep work on the new house. The photos are from the last few weeks of moving stuff. So far we have moved almost everything, except clothes, kitchen stuff, and computer stuff. With a little help this weekend, we will get everything else moved. We are even having a moving company come Saturday afternoon to get the heavy stuff (bed, armoir, appliances, etc...).

That means that tonight is our last night in the apartment and Saturday night will be our first night in the new house! I will take lots of photos from the move... so stay tuned!



For those of you who are tired of hearing about the house... just a few more weeks adn then we can get back to the fun stuff!

House Update

So I was told that I was not putting up enough NEW photos from the house... :)

We spent many, many hours workigng on the house this past weekend. We were able to finish almost everything we want to. I was able to mount the new lights, all of the ceiling fans (including my nice massive one in the living room), install the cat doors in the pantry and laundry rooms, and started to hang the vertical blinds. Charlotte and Mama painted all of the rooms and even got the wall borders up in a few rooms. Last night we finsihed hanging the vertical blinds through out the rest of the house.

Now all that is really left is to put together some new shelves we got and paint the Haunted Mansion stenils in the master bedroom (which I hope to get done this weekend). So now our focus is on packing and moving everything... We are keeping our goal of "living" in the new house by the 13/14th of September.

House Work Update

Well, we have a full kitchen now!

Quick House Update

Well the paperwork is done, the house is complete, the only thing left is a couple of signatures (maybe some more paperwork onsite)... I did our last walkthrough a few hours ago and the house looks very good!

Tomorrow morning we sign the paperwork and then the house is ours! YIPPIE!

Quick House Update

So we had our semi-last walk through of the new house last night....



Just a few minor things left to be completed and the house is ready for closing next week! We have one more walk through this Saturday and that should be the last one!

One more quick update about the house!

I could have posted all of these in the same post, but I figured it might be better to split them. Last week we had our pre-carpet walkthrough, aka blue tape walkthrough. This was where we got to go through the house and mark any issues, marks, wrong parts, miss placed, anything of that nature....

This was only a week or so after the previous update but there were some new stuff! The counter tops were in, most of the flooring (except carpet), light figures, appliances, landscaping, and the radiant barrier under the roof. Oh and just for my mother, some nice shots of our $3,000 banister!

Couple of house Updates

Great news on the new house front... we have our final walk through NEXT WEEK! And in two weeks, we CLOSE! The new house is closer to being a reality for us... So we have stepped up our buying, recently we have bought painting supplies, some wall borders, all of the head rails for the vertical blinds, and a few other minor things.... Oh yeah, almost forgot we also purchased our fridge.

Time to catch up on some photos from the house. Two or three weeks ago, we went out and did a walk through on our own. I took a ton of photos to show off the house and how things are finally starting to come together. These photos show the new cabinets, walls, bathroom items, etc.... there is no flooring, countertops, fixtures, or appliances yet.



Here's a surprise... I did some walk throughs with the camera during this visit. I recorded a downstairs, upstairs, and outside walk arounds. I know, probably moved through too fast... oh well :)

Long Time Coming Update

Ok, I know... it's been a while since I last posted. I just finished a month long project on the other side of the state. Working 14 hours a day leaves you very little time to do ANYTHING....

But, during that period there were some big changes and updates to the house. First, just prior to July 4th, we had our first walkthrough of the new house. This walkthrough was to approve of the general structure of the building, placement of outlets, and to show the plumbing aspects. It is really weird to walk through and think that in just a few weeks this will be our house... Click the image below for more images of our naked house!




After that, we celebrated the Fourth of July at home. Doing what we normally do, FIREWORKS! This year we went all out, maybe a little over board... well, let me just say this: I don't think mrsguru will let me go back to Phantom Fireworks in Daytona again. Click the link for more photos:

Update on new house

Wanted to give everyone the good news, construction on the house has begun! We had our pre-con meeting with the contractor and the house was staked out that day. The slab itself was supposed to be poured two days ago, we are heading by this morning and see how things are going.

So it looks like we should close in late August and moving in by early September!

Got Some Great News!

We have been approved for our mortgage and everything has been completed! They even sent us a certificate about the completion. All that is left on the paperwork is to do the actual signing on Closing Day.

The necessary permits for the building have already been submitted. Once they have been approved, we will have our pre-construction meeting with the contractor and construction will begin!!

Quick Update on the New House

So we finalized our design this past Tuesday. Too late to change anything now! I was able to get some photos of our design choices during our final session. I have added these to our gallery with descriptions of what everthing is. You can view this photos here, they start at the bottom of the page.

Some Big Updates

It has been a few busy and exciting few weeks for us. First was the news of the birth of our new nephew. Jarret Michaiah Hughes join the family two weeks ago and is already better looking than his father.




Next, we have some big news for everyone that is a little closer to our home. It is the fact that we are working on getting our own home! We are close to finalizing the purchase of a new townhome in Sanford, not far from where we are at now. The house has yet to be built, which we hope will be started in a few weeks. We are finalizing our paperwork and our design choices this week. Since it is a brand new house, we were able to make all of the design choices ourselves.

We were able to get a lot of upgrades that we wanted, like a gourmet kitchen, luxury master bath, and a screened in back patio. We went basic on a few other areas and we already have ideas on how to upgrade the house. I call it our "new fixer upper"! Here are a couple quick photos:








I have also been working on getting my new Gallery up and running. Right now it is running fine, but I have a few more tweaks to make with it. I have already uploaded a few albums, including our Disneyland 2008 Vacation, Hughes Easter 2008, more photos of Jarrett, and tour of our new home!
